There is an enormous difference between web graphics and print graphics. Basically it comes down to the fact that images made for print are GIGANTIC compared to images made for use on the web. Remember this!

When saving an image for use on the web, click on File-->Save For Web. For most photos change the preset to JPEG High, and click Save.
